The System X is a rating system that has been created to try to assess the quality of all hats around the world. On some hats, you will see on the inside headband an inscription indicating the number of Xs (50X for example). The more there are Xs, the more the hat is of quality.

50X

This quality can be made of beaver with/or rabbit fur mixed. It’s not as waterproof as 100X.

Care Instructions: Steam from a household kettle and a hard bristle hat brush will help remove dust and dirt. Brush the hat using short strokes, following the natural direction of the fibre.

Additionally, do not leave your hat in the car as it can over heat & cause the hat to shrink. For small stains or marks on the felt hats we suggest using a small piece of sandpaper to rub it out. To mantain straight’s brim shape, please press in middle heat by placing a clean cloth on top of the brim, and follow the original shape.

100X

Made from 100% Beaver and/or Otter Fur , this is the best hat you can buy, just like that. It’s basically a quality for hat lovers. It’s a hat made for a daily use and so, it stands better extreme temperatures due to its composition. LizBaró 100X offers the highest level of resistance to water while still holding its shape.

Care Instructions: 100% beaver felt is therefore naturally water resistant but not fully waterproof. Wearing in the rain is okay but we do not recommended getting the hats soaked. Additionally, do not leave your hat in the car as it can over heat & cause the hat to shrink. For small stains or marks on the felt hats we suggest using a small piece of sandpaper to rub it out. *Same care instructions can be applied in felt hats regardless of the quality (rabbit felt or beaver/otter felt), except for the water damage.

Natural Straw

LizBaró’s natrual straw hats are made with the finest natural fibers.

Care Instructions: Natural straw fibers are not water resistant, but in case it gets wet, try to let it dry naturally in a ventilated place.

Since straw is a fiber very similar to paper, using an eraser (classic Milan) will remove most stains. However, there are others that need a little more skill. In these cases, try to remove it with a soft sponge moistened with water and coconut soap. For colour hats please just use a clean cloth and spray some water on it, then rub the stain carefully. To clean dest from straw hats, you can just use a clean cloth or a small duster.

If this does not work, it is better to take it to an expert hatter for a diagnosis of the possible repair.
